We are very sorry you may have found dishonest individuals at JapanCupid.com. We understand your concern however we would like to assure anyone who may have had a negative experience on the site, that our dating site is legitimate. Our site is owned and operated by CupidMedia Pty Ltd.

CupidMedia Pty Ltd is our company name. Our business has been operating since 1999. We are an Australian company are therefore subject to strict rules and regulations which govern how a company may operate. These rules and regulations are similar to US or European rules and regulations.

You can also verify our status by logging on to our site, clicking upgrade membership, then select PayPal as the payment method. (PayPal is a large US Company which is owned by eBay. They can also process credit card payments for us). After you enter your member number and membership length you are transferred to PayPal and you can click on the link which says "International Verified" which will then confirm our status and indicate the number of people who paid us using PayPal. You DO NOT actually have to make a payment to view this information.

Unfortunately, it is extremely hard for us to verify the real identity or intentions of the members as most dating sites do not require any form of formal identification to register and most members use their private email address to communicate with members. It is very sad that a small minority of dishonest people will make such a negative impression of our site, as the vast majority of the members registered with us are honest.

It is a condition of membership that all people truthfully complete their profile information and the vast majority of people do abide by this however as you can appreciate, it is impossible for us or any other internet based dating site to verify the identity of the people who use its service. However, our company takes extensive measures to prevent non genuine profiles and prevent fraudulent behavior on our sites. These measures include:

* Delete any profiles believed to be non-genuine.

* Provide a ?report abuse? feedback form for members to provide information about members who ask for money or profiles they are concerned about.

* Provide extensive information regarding how to avoid being scammed in multiple locations on the website, including the member mail system and profile pages.

* Use third party, world-class fraud prevention technology

* Have a dedicated fraud prevention team

We do our best to remove these people from our site, deleting any profiles showing dubious photos or information, as soon as we see them, however we also rely on our valued members who kindly report to us any suspect or fake profiles they find on our site.

Foolishly I paid money to join this site. Suddenly all the woman who had supposedly expressed interest in me didn't respond to my messages. I am very suspicious about some of the advertisements. I believe some are real, but the others have been planted by the operators. Given the high prices I cannot even advise trying it out. Having lived in japan as well I can say that the majority of japanese girls aren't interested in gaijin. The ones that are tend to be a little crazy or have some other issues that have meant they have to try and find a gaijin (foreigner) as a last resort. This is a broad stereotype and of course there are exceptions. Don't believe that in general there are lots of hot japanese woman looking for foreign boyfriends. Another problem is they nearly always want to go back to Japan in the long run. Can't believe the bullshit message from the site operator saying that because they are in Australia it is OK. Having lived in Australia I can tell you that there are plenty of crooks there and certainly there aren't any regulations around online dating websites that I am aware of, and definitely no agency that is going to go around and do checks to make sure they are not creating fake profiles and sending messages to suckers like me !

>Although Japan Cupid says that, ?our dedicated Fraud Prevention team uses world-class fraud prevention technology to help keep our users safe

Japan Cupid doesn't take proper investigation despite the allegations/complaints of a fraudster so that he can victimize amother women. Vetting, enquiry to the alleged members are not enogh while similar sevice of German site bans specific members.

this site, i found to be quite legit. yes, i found my fair share of girls who never returned my emails after they showed interest in me. but i also found my gf on this site, we have been dating for a year and a half now.

If I am a silly girl, I woud be another victim in Japanese Cupid. They have bloqued my profile cause I was looking for more proof , and they said if I would continuous with my profile I would answer some private question or send copy of my passaport or my driver licence. How to trust ?

It is true... when I went to BrazilCupid, on the front page there is the photo of a girl I actually know... and her photos have been pinched from a social networking site, and used to create 3 profiles with different details.
When looking at the LatinAmericanCupid site, on the front is a photo of Brazilian model Gisele... you only have to look at the profile, and there's even a photo of her holding a microphone.

I think what they do is they add several fake profiles of more attractive women than most of the real women on the site to hook people in to paying to join. I think most of the profiles are real, but they're not the most stunning looking women in the world.

I mean, think about it, why would a truly attractive women have to resort to a site like that? Even in poor countries there are well-off men for them to pair up with; and often plenty of chances to meet real foreigners visiting there on business or holiday/backpacking.
The sites just play to a "girl friday" fantasy of well off portly middle-aged American men, and milk it for all it's worth.
Having said that, you can meet genuinely fit women from these sites... and I've done it, when visiting a new country, but they always seem to be the most mercenary women you can imagine, "with a plan", and you're friendly enough, you invariably meet far nicer real women in those countries, who are a much better bet.
I'd say, whatever you think about spending on a site like this, just spend it on a holiday there, and go native for a while, anything can happen (both good and bad); but then where's the fun if all the risk is taken away for you?!

I'm truly shocked by the level of scamming, literally fraud, that the Cupid Media organization is committing in the name of dating services!

I joined, and paid for Gold membership 3 months at Filipino cupid, and Indonesian cupid websites, only because I saw MANY gorgeous looking girls, with 'last-visit' register as 1-7 days or thereabout. Joined these site to be able to communicate with them. Yet most of them either do not reply at all, or return interest, but no more than that. And I should say, frankly speaking, known among my colleagues, as tall and very handsome Caucasian man - which they, those girls, were looking for.

Simply incredible, that this kind of scamming can be perpetrated by such a large Aussie firm, and no one seems to be able to do anything about it.

I want to send them message asking for refund of my fees, over US$100, but do not think they will careless. Wish I was a lawyer, would have known how to shake those bastards pants. Bloody SOB's.

i joined filipino cupid recently paid for three mths memebership. i cannot beleive the volume of fake people wanting money or cam shows. the ghanaians who claim to be from other countries only to reveal yhey now live in ghana. i tell you if i get another from ghana i am going to fly there knock there head in... don't waste your money on this site. better still fly to the phillipines you'll have a better chance of real people .

The comment dated April 27, 2010 by the staff from Cupid Media is absolutely untrue. They say majority of their members are genuine but it's a bad joke.
Also, Cupid Media imply they take measure to the suspicious member, however, they've never done this with regard to the serial fraudster who acts in their sites such as AsianDating or JapanCupid. Since the AUS government does not have effective regulation on online matchmaking / mail order bride like in the US or other DEVELOPED COUNTRIES, in addition to be outside of jurisdiction of those strictly restrict online predators (scammers, sex offenders), both Cupid Media and malicious members can do anything they want. Get out of this out-law world. If you are a victim, don't hesitate to go to the local police. The Brit successfully accuse the fraudster outside of the UK through Interpole.

Redhika from Japancupid says:
"Provide a 'report abuse'feedback form for members to provide information about members who ask for money or profiles they are concerned about." but CupidMedia DO NOT take any action despite reports on multiple occasion. CupidMedia does not delete and/or contact the alledged member to make sure about his malicious acts on the service.

Fred, how about yourself?
Can you swear your profile is totally TRUE?
Male members there are perverts and leirs.

We are sorry to hear about your unfortunate experiences on JapanCupid.com or other Cupid Media websites. It is very sad that a small minority of dishonest people will make such a negative impression of our site, as the vast majority of the members registered with us are honest.

Cupid Media is has been operating since 1999 and has over 25 million customers worldwide. We are based in Australia but Cupid Media complies with local consumer law in all markets where we operate.

Our company places great importance on providing a high quality service while protecting our customers from any fraudulent behavior by any of our members. Cupid Media is a principal partner in the Australasian Consumer Fraud Taskforce and is proactively involved in fraud prevention and consumer education programs. Stella (from JapanCupid)
JapanCupid never conducted investigation despite several reports and urged him to leave from the site. AsianDating as well. The offender I met had deceived multiple women. It's like a market of innocent women to exploit by foreign men.

I'm not surprised the site is full of fakes. Seriously, dating sites that charge you a hefty fee just to contact other users instead of a peoper 'freemium' model should disappear. Just use okcupid and pay premium to donate, at least they have more principles than these other companies.

sometimes December 2011,a certain man named Jackson Brown who appeared and claimed here as a UK national was able to scammed me a worth of $6000.00 usd.Another one named "Lee" again claimed to be a UK citizen but with Asian (Korean) ethnicity asked me for $1000.00 usd aside from phone calls bill worth $800 usd more or less.my mistake was that l did'nt got their lD number.

Our goal at CupidMedia.com is to ensure that all our members find the desired partner that they are seeking. It is unfortunate that a few non genuine members have made your experience on our sites a regrettable one.

We are aware of the few dishonest individuals that have managed to get past our fraud prevention system even though we take all necessary precautions to avoid this from happening. However, as we have explained before, it is extremely impossible to verify the real identity or intentions of all the members due to the nature of our business platform. But all the same our efforts to rid the site of non-genuine members are continuous.

To ensure that members are safe from any dishonest people on the site, we have provided extensive information regarding how to avoid being taken advantage of in the Information menu (represented by a blue i) on the member home page and we encourage all our members to read the information therein before getting started.

Thank you.

I have been using JPC for sometime & while I do believe there are fake profiles as I have had at least contact with two; I also believe that the vast majority of the profiles are indeed real.

I had met one Japanese girl who flew all the way over from Japan to see me after speaking to her on-line for several months, unfortunately it didn't work out.

My experience of using JPC is a positive one, you can tell if a profile that has sent you 'interest' is fake as they are usually switched off after you send a message/interest.

Also, it is a well known fact that these on-line dating companies do have fake profiles set-up in order to entice people into buying premium memberships, which is such a shame as it destroys any trust.

As for JPC's passport verification, I have used this service and have not had any problems.

I'm an ugly 46 year old man, and I actually got one date from the site from a girl who was local and who was about ten years younger than me. That's better than all the time I've wasted on Plenty of Fish or OKCupid, so I'm not ready to complain.

I joined Japancupid last April. By May, I had several women I was writing, by June was sure of one, and in December I married her after bringing her here in October. She is from china. I met two frauds while searching, reported one with evidence, and she was removed within hours. I have never been more happy in my life with the woman I married. She is a true lady. I will say that both of us were very lucky, but we did find each other on this site. I would caution people, be SURE you know what your getting into. Different cultures, expenses involved, green card hassles, everything. I would close in saying, writing is one thing, you put your best foot forward. Meeting is entirely a different matter. I was very honest in my letters about my work, income, and life. I wanted her to know exactly what she was getting before she came here. It's only fair. If you lie, you will fail. Good luck, best wishes.

I agree with Adrian about premium membership trick of these dating websites. The facts you should know are people looking for chances to escape poverty and change their lives in just one moment there. Girls and women are asking men for date and sex (with money, of course). Men ask girls prior to the conversation what nationalities they are. There are some scam group from England using these websites to catch the fish. They post the handsome white guy photo with UK local phone number, a boasting profile of a prosperous life style, widow, have 1 child, looking for a new wife. I was talking to him a few time on the phone. He denied to show me his webcam, saying that his computer was old style and doesn't have webcam. However, when I sent him my webcam, he didn't know that I could see him, too. It was a black male staring onto the my webcam. These leeches keep sending phishing e-mail to your e-mail for years. Even though you mark them spam, they keep changing their e-mail.

I would like to say that my experience with Japan Cupid has been 100% positive! I can't speak for other people who may have encountered scammers- perhaps they were just naive and easily fooled. The day after joining the site, I met a girl who became one of my best friends and closest allies! A short three months later, I met the girl who was to later become my wife. Unlike some of the comments, she never asked me to spend so much one penny on her- in fact, she spent quite alot of money on me! Being married to her is like a dream- one that I never hope to awaken from! I even sent one of those glowing testimonial letters which is now featured in their Success Stories section- and there are many of those! Yay! Japan Cupid! 私の妻が大好き !

I tried to set set up an account with JC, which was approved and activated for several days, even paying for a gold membership. When I logged in the next day the account was deleted with a statement saying that it could not be reactivated and that I should contact them if I believed it was a mistake. This was quite baffling as I had not even exchanged a conversation with anyone and had no E-mails from them questioning the legitimacy of my profile.

Several E-mails asking for an explanation went unanswered, but needless to say my card was charged!

Totally awful customer service.

I've used dozens of online dating sites over many years. Most US dating sites I almost never get a reply to my messages. On japancupid.com I get replies to more than half of my messages. Sure, some of them sound flaky and those profiles usually dissapear the next day as I'm sure the website owners detect them and delete them. The biggest problem is that the women are not all Japanese. they are spread pretty equally between Japan, China, and Philippines which makes dating these girls rather challenging and expensive.

The bottom line, this site is as legit as any other major online dating site. The owners are not out to scam you but some of the users are so be careful.
